Weekend “working” from home. .

So it has been no secret that this week I have been working from my house at a new job. Or should I say I have been struggling to work from home.

This last week has felt like being back at university, where everything else is the most appealing task. I now have a pristine bedroom, and have lost a shocking amount of money via Amazon. Curse you online shopping.

So I thought I could make someone else feel good about their achievements this weekend by sharing a few pictures of my lack of them. You’ll notice the the general theme of anything-other-than-workness.. 🙂

I’m a gaming widow!

So I won’t be the only girl (or boy!) out there whose other half is absolutely obsessed in playing games. I have had many arguments and heated debates over the subject of incessant gaming with my boyfriend, often to no avail, “Just have to catch this one more Pokemon and then I’m done!!” is a familiar phrase since the release of the new game and I often get guilted into catching the sodding things for him as he sits eager by my side, stroking my ego with such compliments as “You can always catch the rare ones babe”, and it works, every time. It’s only afterwards, Pokemon caught, that I realise he has scuttled off to the sofa again, face illuminated with the light of his 3D screen, no intentions of finishing up soon.

So what do we do? No point arguing, and quite often there is no way for me to join in, we can’t both sit around the DS, can we? I have given up the dream of introducing new hobbies for him to partake in, no matter how many times he brings his (unopened) book round to read with me, i now know that it will never actually happen.

In this case we don’t see each other often, and anything I do whilst he games would really have to be done near him otherwise we would never be together at all! So what do I do? Read alone? Watch a film, alone? With the familiar “Mmm?” or “haha yeahh. . .” vaguely muttered at any question I pass over his way.. No. . I think I am in need of suggestions, I know there are more gaming widows out there..right?

Manchester :)

I have spent the day wandering around sunny Manchester with my mother and I fall more in love with the place each time we do our little pamper days. Ignoring the regular bouts of mental preachers and pushing past the masses of people all going the same way as you, Manchester is magical. We spent the afternoon having lunch, with wine of course. A little bit of the fancy shopping that is required, (who can resist the big yellow Selfridges bags- they come with their own sense of fancyness!), and then on to Harvey Nichols for a few cocktails!

I have to admit that this little day trip probably won’t go unpunished as I will no doubt wake up for work tomorrow with a vodka hangover but for now it all feels worth it!!! I have to give massive props to the sales women at the perfume stalls in Selfridges! They don’t have know how to get into your head, and £80 lighter I think my mother would agree!

Anyway today’s trip has made me so much more excited for the Manchester Christmas markets, and in turn, Christmas all together! I am hoping for a good one this year, so no pressure Santa 🙂

The Sweet Corner- A Real British Treat!

So like many others I am extremely poor and whilst I am newly employed I am yet to start my job, so as you can imagine Christmas is looking more and more stingy as the weeks pass! I know I am not alone in this and like most people in my situation I am eager to find great, CHEAP christmassy ideas for my family and friends…I am excited because I think my search may well be over!!!

There is a fairly new fad that everyone in the UK will be aware of, and that is the purchasing of classic American food, mainly things like chocolate and sweets. . and Lucky Charms cereal! But as fun as all of that is it is also really expensive and not quite as exciting for me as the classic British treats of old!

So I have recently been made aware of a new company that essentially sells every classically British sweet you can imagine! I don’t know about you, but in my social circle if conversation ever turns to the things we used to love as children (and it does!), talk will eventually turn too the classic sweets and chocolates that people so often get extremely animated and enthusiastic talking about! BonBon’s, Love Hearts, Flying Saucers, Sherbet Dib Dabs. . The list really does go on, and so you can imagine my delight when I found this website, not only does it sell all of the above and so much more. . .but it is really, really affordable!

It is a very quaint vintage looking online store so that makes everything so much quicker and means that I don’t have to leave the house- What more could you want?!

I implore you to take a look! I can’t imagine you being disappointed by this company, especially if you really miss and love those retro British sweets!!

Ooohh… And they have Twitter/Facebook that hold competitions! So Maybe check it out if you do like the website, because the next best thing is even cheaper sweets!! 🙂
